2.1.4. Transformation of the switch tower :
A Märklin switch tower, which was alredy put together, bought
on
Ebay at a low price, will serve as a basis. I have the intention to
make the whole interior, with the correct switch handles (see MIBA
Stellwerke 1) and to give the outside another, proper look.

Posing of the interior walls
Als a first step, I make the walls of "architect cardboard".
Next, the flooring is made of thin Balsawood or styrene sheet of +-1mm
thick. For both products, lines to represent the boards need to be
carved in the material..
Afterwards , walls and floor are painted and joints are filled with a
mixture of white glue with jointfille (grey) or fine sand. Sometimes
you get some stains on the floor, but this helps to give the wall a
realistic look

Walls and floor are in place
Making
of the stair : the steps

There has to be a stair in order to get in the switch room, so a
self-made stair is the only option. :
Dimensions of a indoor stair :
Width +- 86cm (27mm in model), depth of a step +- 23 cm (7.2mm), height
betwwen 2 steps +- 18cm (5.6mm).
The steps have a projection of 5 cm (1.6mm). and the boards
on
the side are +- 4 cm (1.3mm) thick. I made them a little bit
larger..
The handrail is made of brass rods of 0.8 mm onto which a
wooden board is glued.

The stair in 2 pieces, it will become in
one piece
later The
stairwell is already
made, the handrail still needs to be painted
